TRAVERSE City - Norma A. Arnold, 80, died Thursday at Tendercare Traverse City.
She was born Nov. 25, 1918, in Springfield Township to Ira E. and Eleanor (Creighton) Bardwell. On May 15, 1958, in Manton, she married Gaylord Arnold.
Norma, a lifelong resident of northern Michigan, was a member of First Christian Church in Traverse City. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and liked to play bingo.
Survivors include her children, Shirley (Don) Rabourn of Kalkaska, Larry (Sandy) Hilton of Hamilton, Ga., Dennis (Lucy) Hilton of Wachula, Fla., Wayne (Trisha) Hilton of Florida, Pamela (Dave) Valleau of Traverse City, and Bruce (Sandy) Arnold of Traverse City; her stepchildren, Lewis (Helena) Arnold of Bates, Richard (Virginia) Arnold of Traverse City, Gaylene (Wayne) Clark of Traverse City, Darwin (Julie) Arnold of Texas, Hartha (Leonard) Hughes of Ironwood, and Shirley Braden of Aurora, Colo.; 32 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Babcock of Kalkaska; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Norma was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Rupert Gallivan, in 1941; her husband, Gaylord Arnold, in 1983; and by her infant daughter Sharon.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church; the Rev. Larry Ross will officiate. Burial will be in Circle Hill Cemetery in Williamsburg.
Memorials may be directed to Acres of Love Children's Home in Belize, in care of the First Christian Church.
