Boxer Rebellion Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Private in the United States Marine Corps as part of the Chinese Relief Expedition during the Boxer Rebellion. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery at Tientsin, China, on June 21, 1900. His citation simply reads "During the advance on Tientsin, Campbell distinguished himself by his conduct." His Medal was issued on July 19, 1901.
