CITY STREET EMPLOYEE IS SUMMONED

Isaac L. Baker, a well-known resident of this city, passed away at 6 o'clock last Friday evening at his home on Thirteenth street, death coming after an illness of five days. Mr. Baker was a native of Tennessee and was aged 70 years. He came to California seventeen years ago, and for the past twelve years had been a familiar figure on the streets of Merced, being employed in the city street cleaning department. He was an honest and industrious man and was well liked by all who knew him. He is survived by his widow and a son, Elliot Baker of this city. Other surviving relatives are two brothers, J. A. and A. J. Baker, and two sisters Mrs. W. P. Vestal and Mrs. Mattie Crouch, all residents of this city, and two brothers residing in Texas.

The funeral services were held at the chapel of Welch & Griffin and 3:30 o'clock Monday afternoon, Rev. J. S. Stubble field officiating and interment was in Evergreen cemetery.
