Funeral services for Orval Ferrell, 78, of Linden were at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 18 at the United Methodist Church of Linden with the Rev. Dick White and the Rev. D.C. "Bo" Mangum officiating. Interment followed in the Linden Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis-Schindler Funeral Home of Linden.

Ferrell was born in the New Colony Community near Linden. He married Dorothy McKinney on Aug. 18, 1945. He owned and operated a service station in Linden for many years before becoming Cass County Commissioner in 1965, then retiring in 1981. He was a rancher, and a member of the United Methodist Church of Linden.

Ferrell was preceded in death by a brother, William Vernon Ferrell.

Survivors include his Wife, Dorothy Ferrell of Linden; one son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Ann Ferrell of Linden; one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Charles Hall of Texarkana; five brothers, David Ferrell, Morris Ferrell and Harland Oneal Ferrell, all of Longview, Vance Clifton Ferrell of Linden and Horace Burl Ferrell of Jonesville; one sister, Lillian Parker of Waskom and three grandchildren, Sherry Young, Karen Hall and Clifton Ferrell.
