John was born in TN to Tarlton L. Logan and Jane Campbell. He married in 1852 to Sarah Elizabeth Goss in Greene Co, MO. During the Civil War, he was part of the Christian Co MO Home Guard. He was also listed as part of the D Rifle, MO Infantry at the Greene Co Camp (unsure of this). John and Sarah had 12 children. John moved to Indian Territory (now OK) some time in the 1890s. He died in what is now Shawnee of blood poisoning from a dog bite at the age of 71.
