This is one of Renee Tatham Salomone's parakeets.

"Birdy was my first Parakeet, a female. She was really smart; she could get out of any cage! Many times Birdy tried to get out by using her feet opening a cage door; finally she could open the door all the way, but she didn't know how to get her 'head' out at the same time as her feet! She could squeeze herself through any small wire. Many times she would bomb me just so I'd see she was out!

And, was she NOISY!!!!

She broke her hip when she was still young - I'm not sure how she did it! The vet told me Birdy needed a very expensive surgery. I didn't have enough money. So, I put her in her own very small cage with no perches or toys. I talked with her a lot, smoothed her on my lap, gave her extra vegetabless and vitamins. Birdy hopped on one foot. Calcium fixed her hip. Amazing!

I think Birdy's hip always hurt because she wasn't very nice to other birds - or me - just Dimples I. When Dimples I died, I bought another parakeet with another color but named her Dimples II. Birdy loved her! Weird!

I'll always miss Birdy...

She was murdered by her other parakeete 'friends'."

Also visit: Dimples I | Duchess | Lucy | Peter | Sky
