Grandfather to Michael Glen Johnson, great grandfather to Noah Henry Johnson, born 7/27/2009 and named for you. Second great grandson, Christian Riede Johnson born 10/15/2013.
William was born June 27, 1909 in Timpson, Texas to Jay (a successful salesman) and Hattie Todd Henry. He had an older brother, Thomas Jay. The family employed a cherished black maid who, noticing that William was always "bustin up" things, began to call him "Buster". It stuck with him for his entire life, giving him the first of the many remarkable attributes which he was to acquire throughout his life. To all, forevermore, he was always known as Buster Henry never William. It is believed that the Henry family were a rather prominent family in the Timpson area owning 342 acres of land as well as a home in Timpson proper. Tragically, Buster's mother died when Buster was 16. He attended and graduated from Timpson High School. He was a running back for his high school team and despite his small stature (5'7"), played football for nearby Stephen F. Austin College in Nacadoches. Pictures of four of his former girl friends tucked into his 1930 yearbook attest to his active social life. In 1930 or 1931 he migrated to Port Arthur, Texas where he attended and graduated from Port Arthur Business College.
