Viewing and visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today, and the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 27, 2007 at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel. Her pastor, the Rev. Eddie Ailshee, of the Early First Baptist Church, will conduct the service. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28, 2007, in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Midland, Texas.
Odell, as she liked to be called, was born to Franklin and Mamie Hargrove in Troy, Texas, on Nov. 11, 1925. She was raised in a loving and Christian family with four brothers and three sisters. She attended school in Belfalls and Midland, Texas. In 1946 she married Wade Hampton Ellison and was a homemaker for over 50 years.
She was the beloved mother of three sons and two daughters, having seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She loved them all.
Besides Texas, Odell and Wade also lived for a time in New Mexico, Georgia, and Arizona. In 1983 they returned to to Midland where they lived until their long union was broken with Wade's passing in 1998. Soon after, she accepted an invitation to live with her son and his wife in Brownwood. She attended the Senior Citizen Center daily, and loved to play dominos and card games. Her greatest love was to be with her extended family at family reunions. She will be missed by all.
