He was a US Army veteran who served in Europe during World War II. Following his time in the military he went to work for Indiana Bell as a business repairman, and retired after 35 years. He was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Betty Brown; children, Mike Brown and Michele (Gil) Eggemeyer; stepchildren, Robert (Connie) Shinkle, Richard (Marge) Shinkle, Jean Smith, Michael Shinkle and David (Shawna) Shinkle; brothers, James, Lewis and Robert Brown; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter.
Services were entrusted to Flanner Buchanan Funeral Center - Washington Park East of Indianapolis, Indiana.
