Verna Lucille Grubb, 90, of Jacksonville, and formerly of the Greenfield-Manchester-Murrayville area, died Monday afternoon, April 23, 2007, at Passavant Area Hospital. She was born August 20, 1916, in Athensville, the daughter of James Herbert and Zella Ferguson Maberry. She married David Ottis "Buss" Grubb November 9, 1935, in Bethalto. He preceded her in death January 19, 1986.

She is survived by one son, James Franklin (Sandra) Grubb of Winchester; three daughters, Verna Louise (Harold) Walkington of Murrayville, Sandra June (Carroll) Chaudoin of Greenfield and Judy Kay (Joel) Smith of Oconee; 10 grandchildren; Mike (Barb) Walkington, Kathy (Rick) Bridges, Tony Walkington, Debbie (Wes) Vaughn, Steve (Amy) Grubb, Kerry (Steve) Cox, Jim (Millie) Grubb, Damon (Tammi) Chaudoin, Amy (Brian) Smith, and Jason Chaudoin; 20 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren and several step-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Emily Ann Chaudoin; two brothers, Russell Maberry and Harold Lee Maberry and three sisters, Thesal Woolfolk, Bernadine Moore and Faye Maberry.

She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Roodhouse. She was also with the Union Cemetery Ladies and on the Athensville Cemetery Board. Mrs. Grubb's family always came first.

Services were held on April 26, 2007 at Mackey Daws Funeral Home of Roodhouse, Illinois. Visitation was 2 hours before services with burial in Union Cemetery, Athensville township.
