Services for Mrs. Rachel Elizabeth Allen-Jackson will be 10 AM Wednesday April 25, 2007 at Hill Crest Funeral Home with Rev. Harrell Shelton, associate pastor, Airline Baptist Church officiating. The family will receive friends at Hill Crest Tuesday from 4-7 PM. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Shreveport, LA.
Rachel was born January 15, 1914 in Marshall, TX to parents Philip Craver and Cora Anne Sheppard Massey and passed away April 23, 2007 in Bossier City following a Long Life. She was the last surviving graduate of the 1932 class of Marshall High School. Rachel worked for many years as a substitute teacher for the Bossier Parish School System and also worked in Real Estate Sales with Harville-Beckham Realtors. She loved to travel and spend time with her family. Rachel was a long time member of Airline Baptist Church and faithful member of her Sunday School Class
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years George A. Allen, Jr. and her husband (high school friend) of 14 years Glynn S. Jackson. She is survived by her son, Paul Massey Allen and wife Janet, her daughter, Georgeanne Elizabeth Tharp and husband Jim, all of Bossier City. "WuWu" as she was called, is survived by her grandchildren, Sandy Tharp McGee, Jimmy D. Tharp, Jr., Paula Tharp Dodd and husband Randy, Tim Allen and wife Serena, John Allen "Jay" Tharp and wife Cheressa, Daena M. Walther and husband Craig, Paula Rene' Allen, and Cliff W. Allen, great grandchildren, Brandy, Dusty, Kasey, Justin, Preston, Jacob, Jenna, Adam, Christian, Ashley, and Katelynn.
Pallbearers will be James David Tharp, Jr., John Allen Tharp, Cliff W. Allen, Justin Dwaine Maynor, Preston Allen Maynor, and Dustin Randall Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Allen, George Dement, Cooksey Humphrey, and Jack Armstrong.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Garden Court Nursing Center, Odyssey Hospice, and her niece Judy Jackson Bonner for their Loving care and support
