U.S. Congresswoman. Elected to represent California's 37th District in the United States House of Representatives, she served from 1996 until her death. A Democrat, she also served as a Delegate to the Democratic National Convention from California, in 1984, 1992, 2000, and 2004, and as a Member of the California State Assembly from 1993 to 1996. Millender-McDonald was also well known for her work on issues such as election reform and opposing the use of genocide in Darfur.
