Tazewell Board Chairman Dies

James B, (Jim ) Bailey, chairman of the Tazewell County,Va., Board of Supervisors, died
Friday morning at the age of 57 in a Richlands. Va., hospital after a brief illness.
Bailey, a lifelong resident of the Busthead section of Cedar Bluff, Va., also was president
of the four-county Farm Bureau, Inc., including Tazewell County, was a member and director of the Richlands Chamber of Commerce and a director of the
Bank of Tazewell County.
Born in Cedar Bluff, he was a son of the late H. P. and Molly Bandy Bailey.
He was also vice chairman of the Cumberland Plateau Development Corporation, a
member of the Tazewell County Horseman's Club and was chairman of the Tazewell County Welfare Board. He was a member of the Richlands Rotary Club and was chairman of the pastoral relations committee to the Cedar Bluff United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Cedar Bluff Masonic Lodge No. 260. the Tazewell Russell Shrine Club and was past president of the Virginia Beef Cattle Association.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Wine Orr Bailey; four daughters, Mrs. Donald (Jean)
Walk of Tazewell, Mrs. James W, (Nancy) Ratliff of Vinton, Va., Mrs. Joe L. (Peggy) Rusek
of Christiansburg, Va., and Carol Bailey of the home; one son, James B. Bailey Jr., of
Tazewell; two sisters, Mrs. C. F. Grim Jr., of Bluefield, Va., and Mrs. W. T. Hairfield of
Cedar Bluff; one brother, George T. Bailey of Cedar Bluff and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p m. at Cedar Bluff United Methodist
Church with Rev. Ray F. Harris and Rev. Max Linkous of officiating. Burial will follow in
Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands.
Pallbearers: W. N. Hendricks, A. K, Gilmer, John R. McCall, Bill Hankins, W, R. Ray, Rudolph Whitt, Jim Alex Harris and Sam McCall. Members of the Cedar Bluff Masonic Lodge
will conduct graveside rites.
Friends may call at Hurst Scott Funeral Home in Richlands today after noon. The body
will be taken to the church one 1 hour prior to services.
