Mr. Techner had been at Cross County Color Labs in Westville since 1992. His work included consulting with studio owners, presenting seminars on the latest developments, and attending photography conventions. He was considered an authority on motivational sales and promotional programs.
From 1963 to 1991, he was a partner and photographer in Cherry Hill Studios, which also had offices in Jenkintown.
In 1998, he cofounded the Mid-Atlantic Regional School of Professional Photography in Cape May and was its executive director. The school was affiliated with the Professional Photographers of America's International School of Professional Photography in Winona Lake, Ind.
Mr. Techner was a past president of the Guild of Professional Photographers of the Delaware Valley and the Association of Professional Photographic Studio Owners.
A Korean War Army veteran, he was an aerial combat photographer.
He was a member of B'nai B'rith Adelphi Lodge in Philadelphia, and a former member of the Cherry Hill Chamber of Commerce.
He enjoyed gardening, freshwater fishing, and listening to music. He also loved art, from impressionist to modern, and painted in watercolors and oils.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Natalie Gordon Techner; sons Alan and Scott; a daughter, Shari Techner-Smith; six grandchildren; and a brother.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. today at Platt Memorial Chapels Inc., 2001 Berlin Rd., Cherry Hill. Burial will be in Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill.
