J.E. O’Brien, 71, who came to Greenville to serve as yard master for the Katy in 1918 and had since been in the service of that company and it successors in the ownership of the Shreveport line, died at his home, 3007 (sic) last Friday night.
Mr. O’Brien had served in railroad work for more than a quarter of a century before coming to Greenville, with the Santa Fe, in Missouri, and his long record of half a hundred years in railroad service was one of faithful devotion to duty.
A member of the Catholic Church and a man who lived his religion.
He is survived by his wife and three children: John O’Brien, Goliad, Texas; Mrs. Fred Chavey and Miss Florence O’Brien, of Greenville.
