Heart Attack Proves Fatal To I. Abraham.

Pioneer Merchant Passes at Hospital. Had Been in Business Here for Past 42 Years.

Isadore Abraham, 64, Roseburg merchant for more than 42 years, died at Mercy Hospital last night as the result of a heart attack. Mr. Abraham suffered a severe attack of heart trouble yesterday afternoon and was immediately rushed to the hospital, where his death occurred late last night.

He was born May 9, 1870, in Germany, coming to this country at the age of 13 years, and being engaged for several years with his brother, Julius Abraham, in business in what is now Bellingham, Washington.

Coming to Roseburg at the age of about 20 years, he became associated with the Wollenberg firm, and in February 1892 entered the dry goods business for himself. He was continuously engaged in merchandising in Roseburg for the past 42 years.

Was Active Here.

Following a fire which destroyed his place of business at a location near the present site of the Umpqua Hotel, he constructed in 1909 the building in which, since that date, he conducted one of the city's leading merchandise establishments.

He was a director in the Roseburg National Bank and was also interested in other financial concerns of the city.

Fraternally, he was a member of nearly all of the leading orders of the city, including the Masonic, Elks, I.O.O.F., Woodmen and Eagles lodges. He was an active worker in the Roseburg chamber of commerce.

Mr. Abraham was married at Portland, March 15, 1894, to Miss Eva Day. Surviving are the widow and two daughters, Mrs. Faye Lawrence of San Diego and Mrs. Bernice Fessler, Roseburg, and two grandchildren, Gerald Abraham Fessler and Evafaye Fessler.

It is planned to hold funeral services at 2 p. m. Sunday, but definite arrangements have not been made. The body was removed to the Roseburg Undertaking company parlors.

This funeral announcement followed a day later.
