Ends His Life at Atlantic City
F. B. Nicholson, 21 years old, of Dickerson, this county, horrified several hundred visitors in the vicinity of the Boardwalk and Tennessee Avenue, Atlantic City, shortly after noon Wednesday by leaping from a window on the seventh floor. He fell between automobiles and other vehicles and was crushed. When picked up, he was breathing. The bones in the legs and chest were broken.
He was rushed to the City Hospital but died soon after being admitted. He lived long enough to make a short statement, in which he said that his brother-in-law, S. C. Jones, who rented the room in the hotel, was not with him when he determined to end his life.
Nicholson went to Atlantic City Tuesday with Jones. He was recovering from an attack of typhoid fever. They were exercising on the Boardwalk, when Nicholson said he felt faint. A room was rented in the hotel in which he could rest. When Jones was absent for a brief time, Nicholson bolted the door and, throwing the wide screen from the window into the street, followed a second later.
Nicholson recently lost a brother (1911) and is believed to have been temporarily deranged as a result of his illness.
