Marie C. Acone, 81, of Lower Burrell died Tuesday (Nov. 9, 2004) in Presbyterian SeniorCare, Oakmont.

Born Sept. 2, 1923, in the Braeburn section of Lower Burrell, she lived in the Valley all of her life.

Mrs. Acone worked for the former Schenley Distilleries in Gilpin, the former Hart's Department Store in New Kensington and West Penn Hat and Cap in Arnold.

She was a member of Mount St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, the church Addolorata Society and St. Anthony Guild, and the Columbiana Ladies Lodge, Arnold. Mrs. Acone also volunteered at Mount St. Peter food bank, trash and treasure, and the school cafeteria.

Mrs. Acone enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting and entertaining with her family.

Survivors include three daughters, Diane Pokusa and Denise Acone, both of Lower Burrell, and Arleen (Bernard) Buzzelli of California; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony A. Acone; her parents, Julius Charles and Mary Magnotti Pelino; and five brothers, Edward, Gilbert, William, Nick and Alvino "Sonny" Pelino.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the GIUNTA FUNERAL HOME, Arnold, where a prayer service will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday. Christian Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Mount St. Peter Church. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Arnold.
