He was 11 years old making his birth year about 1849. He was born in Missouri. Also in the home was a 10 year old girl, Sally, who was born in California and was listed as a Native American Indian. Another in the home was Nelly Hardin a 1 year old Native American Indian girl.
Keith Lingenfelter states in "Tehama County Pioneers" that Griffin A. Alvarez was murdered in Kanawha, Glenn Co., California on 6 August 1877. Note that Glenn County was not formed from Colusa Co., CA until 1891. Kanawah was a former community located about four miles west of Willows, present day Glenn Co., California.
