Tony born November 20, 1948 in Baltimore Maryland and is the oldest son of the late Arthur and Bessie Griffin also of Baltimore. He received his early education from PS#140 Elementary, Sam Houston Middle School and graduated in 1964 from Edmondson High school.
Tony enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on August 8, 1964 and served for five years. Among his many commendations and citations, Tony received the National Defense Service Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal and Rifle Marksman Badge. After Serving in the military he was employed at Northrop Grumman for more than 30 years.
He was united in marriage to the late Willa Mae Stovall in February 1974. From this union one daughter was born, Amani Mapenzi Griffin.
Tony attended and was active at Enon Baptist church in Baltimore during his early childhood. As an adult, Tony spiritual growth and faith in Jesus Christ was nurtured and developed at Asbury United Methodist Church in Jessup, Maryland, where he faithfully served for many years. Tony is survived by one daughter, Amani Mapenzi Griffin; three stepsons, Herbert and Daryl Hall, Ancil Gaskin; one stepdaughter, Dana Murphy, five grandchildren: Rodjay, Ashley, Tiffany, Marquis and Ariel. A host of other relatives and fds.
