Thomas Beck, was a volunteer drummer boy first, then a pensioned Pvt. in the Maryland Line during the Revolution. On 21 Oct. 1833 he gave Veteran's Pension testimony at the courthouse in Caldwell County, Kentucky wherein he said that after the war he still resided in Kent County, Maryland "till about the year 1794 when I moved to Ohio County Virginia near to Wheeling," an area that is now part of West Virginia.
Land deed records show he bought land from both a John and a Samuel Beck located on Buffalo Creek, north of Wheeling, near present-day Wellsburg, WV.
