Amy Emily Barnhart, 90, of Plato, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.

She was born Feb. 3, 1917, in the Flat Rock Community to Baxter and Leota (Sanders) Pearcy.

On Jan. 11, 1941, she married Deeroo Barnhart, who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her parents; her brother and sisters, Mae Thomas, Johnnie Pearcy, Myrtle Pearcy, Edna Wallace, Gladys Shelhammer, Olive Dixon and Helen Huff.

She was a homemaker and active in the Plato Extension Club.

She was a member of Plato Baptist Church, however the last few years she had attended Lynchburg Baptist Church and Pine Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her son, Bobby Dee Barnhart and his wife, Audrey, of Houston; her daughter, Mary Weber and her husband, Dean, of Plato; three grandchildren, Bob Weber, Don Weber and Robert Barnhart; five great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Services for Amy Emily Barnhart were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, at Evans Funeral Home in Houston with Wesley Wallace officiating.

Burial was in Pine Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Houston.

A memorial has been established to the Texas County Gideons.
