aged 42 years Enlisted September 12, 1864 at Villenova to serve one year mustered in as Private with Company A. 188th New York infantry on September 26, 1864 promoted Corporal same date. mustered out with Company on June 1, 1865 Near Washington D.C.

Enlisted as Corporal with Co. D. 42nd Pa Infantry on may 29, 1861 he was discharged September 22, 1862 for wounds he received at Mechanicsville June 26, 1862.

Pension he applied for a pension on December 1, 1862 as Invalid App # 5.115 at new York
his widow Anna M. Akin applied for a pension on July 18, 1892 App # 555.719 from New York.
stated he served with 42nd Pa and 188th NY.

The PA. 42nd Pa Regiment is called the 42nd Pennsylvania Infantry/ 13th PA Reserve/1st PA Rifles.
