M. GAERTNER DIES AT AGE 79
Montgomery (Monte) Gaertner, 79, of 1224 Fifth Ave. East, died in a Kalispell hospital last night. Mr. Gaertner was born in Ida Grove, Iowa, on Feb. 7, 1878, a son of John P. and Mary Jones Gaertner. He grew to manhood there and on August 8, 1903, he married Minnie Dineen in Sioux City, Iowa.
In 1917, they came to Glasgow and were engaged in ranching there until 1938, when they moved to Rexford. They came to Kalispell in February of last year.
He is survived by his wife, Minnie, in Kalispell; three daughters, Mrs. Roy Brock, Rexford; Mrs. Kenneth Friskie, Fairbanks, Alaska; and Mrs. Carl Iverson, Chester, Mont.; three sons, Eugene H., Kalispell; John D., Condon, and Richard L., Whitefish; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by two brothers, Dr. Leo Gaertner, Montpelier, Idaho, and Frank Gaertner, Kansas City, Mo.; three sisters, Mrs. Dyer Henry, and Mrs. Jennie Davis, both of Fontana, Calif., and Mrs. Charles Bertrand, Omak, Wash.
The body is at the Johnson Funeral Home and will be taken to Eureka for services and burial at a time to be announced.

OBITUARIES, extract:
Requiem high mass was celebrated in St. Matthew's Church at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Father William Morley as celebrant.
Pallbearers were Peter Saverud, Elmer Gilbertson, Clarence Davis, Melford Anderson, John McQuirk and John Buhmiller.
Graveside rites in Conrad Memorial Cemetery were conducted by Rt. Rev. Msgr. M. J. Halligan.
Arrangements were under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
They retired in Feb. 1956 and moved to 1225 Fifth Ave. East.
