Jazz Musician. Born in Wilmington, North Carolina, he was a trumpeter and bandleader of the Floyd Standifer Quartet who helped establish the Jazz music scene in Seattle and the rest of the Northwestern part of the United States. A versatile musician, he also played the tenor saxophone and was an accomplished vocalist. After beginning his career during the 1950s, Standifer performed with music legends Quincy Jones and Ray Charles.
