Solomon, the fourth son and sixth of eleven children of Thomas Gleason and Priscilla Miller was born on 14 March 1732 at Sturbridge, Massachusetts. Solomon served in the American Revolutionary War as a Private with Captain Ezra Whittlesey's 3rd Company, Berkshire Regiment. Ezra Whittlesey was his brother-in-law. Solomon married Lydia Whittlesey, the daughter of Jabez and Sarah (Stoddard) Whittlesey on 23 January 1759 at Worcester, Worcester, Massachusetts. They had eight children:
1. Jason Gleason (b. 1760; d. 1829),
2. Solomon Gleason (b. 1761; d. 1786),
3. Sarah Gleason (b. 1763; d. 1841), m. 4 Dec 1783 at Stockbridge, MA, Isaac Jones (1756-1840)
4. Lydia Gleason (b. 1765),
5. Amasa Gleason (b. 1770; d. 1808), m. 20 Nov 1796 at Lenox, MA, Anna Booth (1774-1844)
6. Ezra Whittlesey Gleason (b. 1773; d. 1849), m. 4 Feb 1796, Wealtha Hawley (1779-1850)
7. Levi Gleason (b. 1775; d. 1843), m. 1 May 1809 at Lenox, MA, Susan Knight (1775-1814)
8. Mary Gleason (b. 1781)
Solomon, with his wife, moved to Lenox, from Stockbridge, Massachusetts. He was on a building committee of three to build a church in Lenox on 25 May 25 1784. He was a "house wright," as he styled himself.
Solomon Gleason (alias Glezen) died on 10 August 1810 in his 78th year at Lenox, and is buried in the Church on the Hill Cemetery at Lenox, Berkshire, Massachusetts.
