Tuesday Inquest Into Boy's Death
DALLAS CITY, Ill. - Last rites for 11-year old Loren Jay Black will be held at First Christian church at two o'clock this afternoon. The boy was killed when struck by an automobile as he was walking home from school Thursday afternoon.
The Rev. Charles Harris will conduct the service. Burial will be in the Harris cemetery. The body is at the Martin funeral home.
Clarence Mellor, Henderson County Coroner, said he will conduct an inquest into the boy's death at his residence at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Loren Jay Black was the son of Herby Black, Jr. and Mrs. Edith Lowman Vaughn, and was born Sept. 26, 1951, at Carthage. He was a sixth grader at the Dallas City grade school.
Besides his parents, the boy is survived by his stepfather, Wilbur Vaughn; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Herby Black, Sr., Burnside, and the following brothers and sisters; Herby Junior Black, Niota; Richard Black, Dayton, Ohio; Ronnie Black, USA, Ft. Leonard Wood, Rolla, Mo.; Charles Black, Dallas City; Mrs. Helen Trone, Clarinda, Ia., and John and Barbara Jean Black, both at home.
A step-brother also survives.
