Richard B (possibly Burrit or Burton) was the 7th child of 11 born to Burrit Anderson and Mary Amanda Walling. He was born in Monmouth County, New Jersey and in 1855 at the age of 12, he moved with his family to North Franklin, New York.

Once there, his father ran a farm in which several of his children lived till they married and moved off on their own. On March 9, 1866, Burrit Anderson passed away at the age of 58 and the farm was left to Richard to maintain. Although Richard never married, he did help to raise several of his nieces and nephews.

Richard took over the farm and ran it while caring for his mother and sister Julia Ann. Richard was an active member of the Aldrich Baptist Church and after his death, the farm was sold, and after paying his debts, the remainder was left to the church.

To this day, there is a stain glassed window in the church honoring this fine, upstanding citizen of Franklin.
