Everett August Koller, 78 of La Grande and formerly of Elgin, died Dec. 4 at a local care center. A graveside service will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8 at the Elgin Cemetery.

Mr. Koller was born April 6, 1927, to Frank and Rachel Morton Koller in Summersville, Mo. Everett served in the Navy during World War II and in the Army during the Korean War. He worked most of his life in the logging industry. On June 27, 1952, he married Dorla Richardson in Hardy, Ark. The couple moved to Pomeroy, Wash., and then to Elgin in 1955 before settling in La Grande in 2002.

He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.

Survivors include his wife of La Grande; children and their spouses, Michael and Valerie Koller of Elgin, and Elton and Debra Koller of La Grande; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Koller of St. Louis, Mo., and other relatives. Three brothers, Lawrence, Howard and Emmett Koller; and five sisters, Inez Haeffner, Alta Oldenburg, Delsie Randolph, Velma Carpenter and Hazel Koller, all died earlier.

Memorials may be made to the Pacific N.W. Renal Service in care of Daniels Chapel of the Valley, 1502 Seventh St.
