UTAH CONVICT SHOOTS WOMAN
Harry Gravell Then Ends Own Life With Pistol In Salt Lake

Harry Gravell, 38, a paroled Utah convict, shot and killed himself here today, police reported, after he had shot and critically wounded his asserted sweetheart, Grace Griffin, 36, a divorcee.

Miss Griffin lay wounded beside Gravell's body for nearly five hours, the officers said, before the shooting was discovered by Mrs. Lillian Rahan, a sister of Miss Griffin.

Officers said she told them her sister had been in fear of Gravell, who had demanded that she leave the city with him.

Gravell was paroled from the state prison after serving four years and a month of a sentence of 25 to 40 years for second degree burglary of a store at Bountiful. Police said he also had served three years in the State Industrial school, three years in San Quentin, Cal. prison for burglary and seven years in the Utah prison for bank robbery in Sugarhouse in 1920.
