EARSIE E. BALLARD Portage, Indiana Earsie E. Ballard age 77, of Portage, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2008 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Earsie was a Northwest Indiana resident since 1953 and retired supervisor from the Budd Company in Gary. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving during the Korean War. Earsie was a former Little League Coach in East Gary/Lake Station and known as a local artist who had been a member of the Chesterton Art Gallery. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by 4 children: Gwen Neal of Chelsea, MI, Teresa (Bob) Ring of Valparaiso, Michael W. Ballard of Portage, Ercell (Bill) Keil of Orland Park, IL; 10 grandchildren: Jenifer Ring, Shawn Neal, Jason Neal, Brad Ring, Dana Ballard, Eric Ballard, Megan Ballard, Sarah Keil, Samantha Keil and Brian Keil; 2 great grandchildren: Gabriel Ballard & Tyler Warner; 2 sisters: Jan (Gene) Mercer of FL and Porsia Anderson of AL; brother: Bailey (Rose) Ballard of MO. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Ballard, son, Keith Alan Ballard, brothers, Bacil & Joseph Ballard, and sisters, Marcella Hart and Violet Pickett. There was no visitation. Per his request a private graveside service and burial was held Friday, November 7, 2008 at McCool Cemetery in Portage.
