OBITUARIES-EUGENE LEROY BARID
Eugene (Gene) Leroy Baird, a resident of Pico Rivera, California, and a former resident of Mooreland, died Tuesday, September 1, 1992, in the Rio Honda Hospital in Downey, California. Gene had been ill for several years.
He was born May 11, 1917, in Mooreland to Vesta (Young) and Andrew Baird.
Gene attended school and graduated from Mooreland High School. He worked for Enlow's Market for a time and also managed the ice house before joining the service in 1940. Gene served in the European area while in the service during WWII and was discharged after approximately four and half years in 1945. He was a recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and many other ribbons and a member of American Legion.
Gene moved to Pico Rivera, California, in 1945 and worked for Axelson's Manufacturing Company till his retired in 1983. He was married to Rose and they had one daughter, Susan.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 5. Rosary was held September 4 at Saint Marianne Church in Pico Rivera.
Survivors include his wife, Rose; one daughter, Susan, and husband, Joe Willis; one sister, Faye Dart, of Pica Rivera, California; two brothers, Milton and wife, Dotty, of San Jacinto, California, and Audice of Woodward; three grandchildren, Brian, Bradly and Brent Willis, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
