James Alvin Williams,age 79,died wednesday,December 6,2006. Services will be 2PM Monday December 11,2006 at Milledgeville First united Methobist Church. Burial will follow in Heritage Memorial Park. Mr James A. Williams, of Barnesville, passed away wednesday December 6, 2006 as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident, A native of Butts County, Ga.,Mr. Williams was the founder of Williams Funeral Homesin Milledgeville,Gordon, and Barnesville,Ga. Son of the late Mr. William Oscar Williams and the late Mrs. Clara Thaxton Williams, he was a Korean War veteran, having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Williams was a funeral director since 1952, having started 7 successful funeral homes in his career, His son, Rick, now owns the Williams Funeral Home & Crematory in Milledgeville, and his daughter, Brenda, now owns the Williams White Columns Funeral Home in Gordon. He had been a Member of The Lamar County Lion's Club, Rotary Club international, and The Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the National Funeral Director's Association. Mr.Williams was a Past Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge F.& A.M. in Gordon, Ga. and was a past Lamar County Commissioner. Survivors include his wife, Blanche Heayberd Williams of Barnesville; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Donna Williams of Milledgeville; two daughters and son-in-law Susan and her husband Billy Hester of Gordon, and Brenda Williams of Gordon; a step-son Tick and wife, Allison Heayberd of Milledgeville, four step-daughters,Lori Heayberd of Milledgeville,Yvette and husband,Bob MacGregor of Punxatawnie,Penn.,Susan Pope and husband, Calvin of Alaska, and Patty Rushin of Milledgeville; a sister, Julia Williams Torbert of Barnesville; a large number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and other relatives. In lieu of flowers the family request Memorial contributions to the Georgia Sheriffs Boys Ranch,PO Box 1000, Stockbridge, Ga. 30281. The Scottish Rite Hospital, Tribute Gifts, 1687 Tullie Circle, NE Atlanta, Ga 30329 or the donors favorite charity.
