Aunt Lida" Rolls
Mrs. Wm Rolls, residing near Lone Jack, familiarly known in the neighborhood as "Aunt Lida" died unexpectedly last Friday morning (Aug. 21, 1942) while busy with her housework. Services were conduted by the pastor, the Rev. Roy Johnson at the Baptist Church, 2:30pm Sunday and burial was in the Lone Jack Cem. Mrs. Rolls was a member of a family (that of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Smith) which settled in the Lone Jack area more than 100 yars ago. She and Mr Rolls were married at Lone Jack Mar. 25, 1889 and they celebrated their golden wedding in 1939. In addition to Mr. Rolls, Mrs. Rolls is survived by seven of her eight children, Guy Rolls, Elmer and Clarence Rolls, Mrs. Vivian Tapscott, Mrs. Mark Shores & Mrs. David Hayes. Elizabeth Frances Smith ROLLS was born 11 Sep 1868, in Lone Jack, Jackson, Missouri. She was the wife of my great-granduncle.
