Arthur Newton Cook, 84, of 3018 Pickett died Friday in a local nursing home.

Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Coker-Mathews-Peters Chapel with the Rev. Terry Schoaff and the Rev. Arthur Brooks officiating. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery.

Cook was born April 7, 1895, at Wister, Okla., the son of John and Miller Irene Beene Cook. He married Mary Hoff Feb. 14, 1918, at Greenville. Cook was a U.S. Army veteran of World War I and a member of Reavilon Baptist Church. He was a retired dairyman.

Survivors include his wife, a niece and two nephews. Cook was preceded in death by an infant son.

Arrangements are under the direction of Coker-Mathews-Peters Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Coker-Mathews-Peters Chapel with the Revs. Terry Schoaff and Arthur Brooks officiating. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery.

Mr. Cook was born at Wister, Okla, on April 7, 1895, the son of John and Miller Irene Beene Cook. He married Mary Hoff in Greenville on Feb. 14, 1918. He served with the U.S. Army in World War I and was a retired dairy farmer. He was a member of Revilon (sic) Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Cook of Greenville, a niece and two nephews. The family will be with Mrs. F.H. Castleberry on Zora Dr. Preceding him is death was an infant son.

Pallbearers will be Paul Mathews, R.W. Cooper Jr., Fred Chapman, Sam Rowe, Lee Groves and Wayland Walker.
