Mack was a graduate of Cocoa High School in 1952. After graduating, he was employed by Pan American in Cape Canaveral. And later he attended the University of Florida
until his father passed away. He spent 6 months in the U.S.Army at Fort Campbell,Kentucky. Until he was injured in an automobile accident and was medically discharged. He married his wife of 39 years, Patsy J. Austin on June 21, 1958. And later they had a son William McCoy Thompson Jr. on February 10,1964. Mack went to work for Florida Power & Light in 1958. He worked his way up the ladder from Meter Reader to being the first person to become Customer Service Supervisor in his own office(Cocoa).He enjoyed Woodworking, Sports, Fishing, Shrimping,and many other activities. He loved Christmas time. He would always go all out decorating every year. He was known as Mr. Christmas. He was also a huge Florida Gator Fan. As is his son.(Bill) He later retired in 1990 after 32 years of service. He moved from Cocoa,Florida to Sautee,Georgia,where he passed on October 13,1997 of complications from a stroke. He had many friends some old and some new.
