WILLIE BYRD DAVID - RADFORD - My beloved mother, age 93 of 303 West Main Street, Radford died Tuesday at New River Valley Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Lewis Byrd Howard & Ella Collier Howard. Her husband, Elmo David, three sisters & one brother, also preceded her in death. For 30 years, she was a member of the First Christian Church in Pulaski where she served as an elder and Sunday School Teacher. When she moved to Radford, she became a member of the First Christian Church. She was retired from the C & P Telephone Company (now Verizon) where she worked for 33 years. For many years, Byrd was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Surviving are: her daughter, Suzanne David, Radford; sister, Lillian Simpson, W. Va.; many loved nephews & nieces, Gerald & Joy Kilgore, Richmond, Dr. Ronald Simpson (Charlotte), Athens,Ga., David & Priscilla Simpson, Hartwell, Ga., John & Pauline Hensley, Bluff City, Tenn., Dr. Wayne & Carol Hensley, St. Paul, Minn., Jim & Carolyn Hensley, Carrollton, Ga., Linda Byrd & Jim Miller & Priscilla Simpson, all of Huntington, W. Va., Mark & Donna David, Richmond, Carol Ann & Manuel Munoz, Quantico; sister-in-law, Betty David, Salem; her very special friends, Buddy & Johanna Vest, Irene Goodykoontz, Celine Sanders all of Radford & the Rygas family of Pulaski. Funeral Friday 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Pulaski with Rev. Dr. Gina Rhea and Rev. Christine Reisman officiating. Bower Funeral Chapel,1631 Bob White Blvd.,Pulaski.
