A Civil War Veteran. He enlisted on 13 Nov 1860 at St. Louis, MO. At time of enlistment he was a 22 year old laborer, standing 5' 7-3/4" tall, with a fair complexion, brown hair and blue eyes. A general services recruit. Attached to Co. M, 1st MO Lt. Art. from 1861 to 1864. Transferred to Co. F, 2nd US Art. on 14 Jan 1864. Discharged at Benicia Barracks, CA on 13 Nov 1865. Contracted malarial disease at Black River, MS, between Jackson and Vicksburg, in 1863 during the Vicksburg campaign. Died of cancer at age 53.
