HENRY SPETEN
March 1, 1923 — Dec. 1, 2002

No services will be held for Henry Speten, 79, of El Centro, who died Sunday in his home.

Mr. Speten was born on March 1, 1923, in Wilton, ND.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1948.

After the war, he began working for the U.S. Postal Service in Torrance. He retired after 35 years of service.

Mr. Speten married Lois Jerin in Winterhaven, CA on May 26, 1963.

According to family, he moved to Oakhurst in 1984 and lived there until four years ago. He last resided in the Imperial Valley.

Mr. Speten was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Speten of El Centro; daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Duel Jeans of Norfolk; daughter, Cynthia Alvarez of San Diego; brothers and sisters-in-law, Orville and Iva Speten and Rudy and Lucille Speten, all of Wilton; sister and brother-in-law, Lorraine and Frank Powell of Packwood, Wash.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
