Mike Briggs was born in Manchester NH. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1991 to 1995. From the age of 12 until entering the Marine Corps, he worked at Yeaton Dairy Farm in Epsom. He began his career in law enforcement with the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections, and working as a part time police officer before joining the Manchester Police Department in 2001. Friends and fellow officers describe him as kind, generous, friendly, caring, loyal and courageous. On July 25, 2004, Mike was one of four officers who rushed into a burning apartment building and rescued its 19 residents. Among those he saved were a teenager, blind and confined to a wheelchair, and the elderly woman who cared for her. Mike lived in Concord NH with his wife Laura of nearly 12 years, and their two sons Brian and Mitchell. He was killed in the line of duty at age 35.
