On 15 September 1914, Peter married Rose Wotzka at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Lake George, MN; he was age 23, she was 22. "Standing up" for them at the wedding (& behind them in the photo) were Rose's older brother, Charles Wotzka & Peter's younger sister, Elfrieda Braun.
Her kitchen was the social gathering place of the family home in Melrose (purchased in 1936 when she received a portion of her father's estate.) Within minutes after arriving at her home, she would offer visitors something to eat -- fried potatoes & pork sausage were everyone's favorite.
After eating a tasty meal, we would sit around, talking & joking — the adults maybe drinking a beer or two. Rose would NEVER have a beer by herself... but she was "almost always" willing to "share one" with someone else.
Extremely kind of heart, Rose would jump in to "defend" any of her children as soon as one started to tease another... it soon became a game the rest of her children loved to play at her expense.
