Bernice Bloomer, 73, of Des Moines died of a heart ailment Friday, Nov. 24, 2000 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Services were held Nov. 28 at Fisher Funeral Home in Van Meter. Burial was in the Van Meter Cemetery.
Bernice Bloomer was born Sept. 14, 1927 to Emery and Thia Buel in Earlham and lived most of her life in Des Moines. She married Leslie Bloomer on Feb. 14, 1949 in West Des Moines. She was a retired office clerk for the Principal Financial Group. She was a member of the Principal Retiree's Group, and St. Mark's Lutheran Church in West Des Moines. She loved to travel.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie.
She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Fitzgerald of Des Moines; two step-sons, Robert Bloomer of Florida and Leslie E. Bloomer, Jr. of Des Moines; two step-daughters, Genevieve Gavin of Wisconsin and Barbara Straine of Ohio one brother, Billy Buel of Booneville; one sister, Bonnie Ray of Creston; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be given to World of Life Assembly of God Church in Mitchellville.
