Born in Penn Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania from a family that worked the early oil fields, her mother Dora B. McClay of Callery and Brady's Bend in Pennsyvalnia and Curtis Edwin Daubenspeck or Greece City, Pennsylvania, two sisters Mildred and Marian both of Butler, Pennsylvania and two brothers Roy or Mount Vernon in Ohio and Arthur(pete)of Butler, Pennslyvania. She married her husband Donald E. Croup in 1936 who died in 1950, but she brought up her three sons, Donald L. of San Jose, California, Thomas E. of Broad Run, Virginia, and Terry N. of Butler, Pennsylvania and Hinckley, Minnesota. She taught them God and Country and was the best mother any son could have. When in her 80's and 90's she was fond of telling us that "old age is not for sissys". Rest in peace my beautiful mother. A brave woman who taught us how to live, and die.
