Katrina was the daughter of Carrie Kinney Evans & Robert C Evans sr., sister of R. Christmas Evans Jr. She was the granddaughter of Christmas E. & Emily Evans and Clayton W. & Hattie A. Kinney. She suffered brain-damage at birth, and this left her profoundly disabled, never really learning to speak, the one word she said was the name of her aunt, Edna, who she adored; and walking only a few steps in her life. Her brother and his friends always treated her like she was just any other kid, because to them that is just what she was, and they all accepted her.

Sissy loved the family dog, Streaky, who was a water-cocker spaniel. Streaky would know when Sissy was having a bad spell or was sick, and would pace the halls whining, always eager to be at her side. Though Sissy and Streaky adored each other if Streaky's fur happened to touch her Sissy would shudder and cry. When Sissy passed away Streaky came to the funeral home to see her one last time, and seemed to realize his friend was gone.

Sissy also hated bananas, and anything that smelled or tasted like bananas.
