John Lem Massey


ROSCOE -- John Lem Massey, 79, died Wednesday, August 14, 2002 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.


Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2002 at McCoy Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater with Phil Collard officiating. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery directed by McCoy Funeral Home.


John was born November 9, 1922. He worked for Gulf Oil Company for 35 years, and was a Plant Superintendent. He was a Farmer and Rancher. John was a B-24 Pilot, and flew 50 missions during World War II. He graduated from Highland High School, and attended Tyler Business College. John was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Roscoe Church of Christ. He was also active with Livestock Shows.


He was preceded in death by his parents, William Johnson Massey and Eugenia Cox Massey; and a brother, William H. Massey.


Survivors include one son, Mike Massey of Roscoe; two daughters, Susan Massey of Arlington, and Sharon London of Little Rock, Arkansas; five grandchildren, Britt London of Arizona, Blake London of Longview, Texas, Brooke London of Dallas, Alex, and Michael Massey, both of Roscoe.


Pallbearers will be Britt London, Blake London, James Cleckler, Don Richburg, Mike Alexander, and David Mayes.
