Samuel S. Black, 76, Dies Sunday; Rites Tuesday
Samuel Sherman Black died at 6:20 a.m. Sunday at the home of his son, Ernest Black, 420 Grand, just six days after observing his 76th birthday.
Funeral services will be held at Abner cemetery in Nason at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 8. The body will remain at Myers Chapel until the funeral hour, where friends may call at any time.
Mr. Black was born June 30, 1865 in Jefferson county, the son of Samuel Allen Black and Myra Ann Dare Black. He was united in marriage with Almira Jane Roberts, who preceded him in death in 1925.
He is survived by four sons, Ed Black of Waltonville, Ernest of Mt. Vernon, Howard of Decatur, and Clarence of Tusla, Oklahoma; three duaghters, Mrs. Martha Wilson and Mrs. Alice Gower of Mt. Vernon and Mrs. Ona Pitchford of Christopher; and two brothers, Tom Black of Nason and Henry Black of Elvins, Mo.
