"Alex H. Benke, age 82, died Wednesday, May 6, 1998. He was born on December 12, 1915 and was a native and lifetime resident of San Antonio. After serving in the U.S. Army, Mr. Benke went to work for San Antonio Equipment company where his love for tractors and other equipment began to grow. He especially loved working with antique tractors and attending tractor shows. He also retired from civil service at Kelly A.F.B. Mr. Benke was a very active member of Hope Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor V. Benke, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 14, 1998."
