UNION - Etta Rowland Russell Cabaniss, 97, of Oakmont Nursing Home died Feb. 12, 1999, in Wallace Thomson Hospital.
A native of Madison, N.C., she was the widow of Thomas Pinckney Cabaniss and daughter of the late Dan and Mary Dixon Rowland. She was a member of Mon-Aetna Baptist Church and was formerly employed with Milliken & Co., Monarch Plant. She was first married to the late Willie Russell. Survivors include a daughter, Joretta C. Johnson of Denton, N.C.; a son, Thomas D. Cabaniss of Atlanta, Ga.; a stepdaughter, Ruth Foster of Charleston; a brother, Woodrow Rowland of Waynesville, N.C.; a sister, Nora R. Self of Norfolk, Va.; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. today at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Mon-Aetna Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Joe Bridges and the Revs. Benny Green and Bobby Crocker. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church at 1 p.m.
The family is at the home of a daughter-in-law, Willford Russell, 2501 Lockhart Highway, Union.
