Isaac married Rachel Billson on April 3, 1852. They had at least five children.

Isaac enlisted as a Private with the Union Army on Sep. 8, 1861 at Avoca, Steuben County, NY. On Sep. 13, 1861 he was assigned to Battery E, First Artillery of New York to serve three years. On Aug. 5, 1862 he was transferred to the First Independent Battery of NY.

He was discharged as disabled on Dec. 9, 1862, but died during the journey back to his family in New York. Isaac's death is recorded in military record as "DIS- on way home of disease".

"A discharged soldier, named Isaac House, died at the railroad depot, in this place [Williamsport, Pa.], on Tuesday morning. He was enroute from the army of the Potomac to his home, near Bath, N.Y. On arriving here, he was so much exhausted that he lived but a few minutes after being taken from the cars. The deceased, before his discharge, was a member of Captain Cowan's independent battery, New York volunteers, and was 33 years of age. His body was decently en-coffined and forwarded to his friends."
