He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank "Pete" and Kathleen Carr.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 53 years, Mildred "Junie" Debo Carr; children and spouses, Vickie and Mike Carkin, Sandy and Barron Eggleston, Eric and Rhonda Carr, Paula and John Hutchison; grandchildren, Darren and fiancée, Marci, Jesse and wife, Carol, Robert and Michaela Carkin, Diana and fiancé, Jamie, Heather Wright, Jennifer and Brandon Carr, and special friends, Matt, John C., and Dee and extended family.
Reggie was a man who never knew a stranger and would help anyone in need. He was a truck driver for Jones Motor Lines for 27 years and then drove as a currier for American Medical Lab for 10 years, making many friends along the way. He served with the Williamson Road Rescue Squad for many years. Reggie was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
The family would like to thank Dr. Eric Williams, Dr. Elechi, and the wonderful staff of Virginia Veterans Care Center.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2006 at Lotz Salem Chapel with Father Remi Sojka officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lotz Funeral Home, Salem.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to OLPH Building Fund, 314 Turner Rd., Salem, Va., City of Roanoke Rescue Squads, 215 Church Ave, S.W. Roanoke, Va. or the Officer Down Memorial Page (ODMP, Inc.), P.O. Box 184, Oakton, Va. Arrangements are being handled by Lotz Funeral Home, Salem.
